Monthly Project Update

Dad and Doug have been quite busy working in the basement the last few weeks, it's just Mom who has been a little slow on the uploading of photos and updating my blog! The drywall is up and the finishing has begun on the south end of the rec room.


This is going to be a bench when it's finished, but the seat will lift off for access to the water meter. Dad is quite proud of the fact that he built this entirely out of salvaged lumber. He recently got a new transformer at work that arrived on a giant wood pallet, and he saw a chance to recycle all those boards instead of just burning them. Nothing like saving a tree and saving some money at the same time, hey?


Here's a close-up shot of the new window, and the beautiful framing job around it.


Mom has also been busy on the main floor of the house, giving our bathroom and hallway a fresh coat of paint and adding this spiffy new wallpaper border in the bathroom.


It adds a bit of color and complements the little seashell and sand dollar collection quite nicely, doesn't it?
