Ta-Da!

This is from the original Napolean Fireplaces brochure. It shows the contemporary installation that we decided to go with in our basement .....


.... and this is how it actually turned out! You can't really see the flames in this view because of the overhead lights and the camera flash, but when the lights are dimmed the fire actually looks real. It's way cool, and as you can see I love to lay on the couch and soak up all the heat it throws out!


It's hard to believe it was exactly two years ago today that we posted the first "home improvement" entry, but that's how it goes when you start any kind of do-it-yourself project I guess. It never ends either ..... there are more projects still sitting on the drawing board!

Signs that winter is on the way ......

Out with the tans and in with the browns! Here I am showing off our new living room runner, which will help catch all the slush that gets dragged in through the front door. We also remade the bed with snuggly warm flannel sheets over the weekend, and we finally broke down and turned on the furnace. It's really getting cold here. You might even see the season's first snow photos tomorrow!!!
